Entertain at the next Colorado Rockies game in a luxury suite at Coors Field
Based out of the Mile-High City of Denver, the Colorado Rockies have been a fixture of the MLB’s National League West Division since 1993. One of the newest teams in baseball, they have now been in existence for a quarter of a century. As such, this franchise does not have an extensive trophy case. Their lone NL pennant was won in 2007 over the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was only the second time two expansions franchises faced each other in the NLCS. The Rockies swept the series before being overmatched by their AL opponent in the World Series. The Boston Red sox made quick work of the Rockies, beating them in four straight games to take home the title of champions of baseball.
The purple pinstripes of the Colorado Rockies are known throughout the league. So, too, are their most famous players from years past. The list of names will always begin with Todd Helton, the consummate Rockies player. Joining him on the list of hometown favorites is Larry Walker, Troy Tulowitzki, Carlos Gonzalez, Andres Galarraga, and Vinny Castilla.
Despite success hitting the ball in the thin air of the high altitude, pitching has always been the facet of the game that seems to hold back the team. This year, however, things may be changing. The lineup is still teeming with great sluggers. Chris Ianetta, who started his career in Colorado, is back behind the plate with the Rockies after spending time on a few other rosters around the league. First baseman Ian Desmond is back for a second season with Colorado and is looking to put a full healthy season of work in for the club. Veterans DJ LeMahieu and Nolan Arenado are solid contributors, as is Trevor Story, a young shortstop who has grown into an impressive everyday player.
The outfield for Colorado is ripe with stars. Former NL Batting Champion and three time Gold Glover Carlos Gonzalez patrols deep along with Charlie Blackmon, who won the NL Batting title in 2017. They look out for David Dahl, a young player with a lot of promise. After missing most of last season due to injury, Dahl is ready to step up in 2018 and make a name for himself.
The young pitching staff includes Jon Gray, German Marquez, and Tyler Anderson as starters. Looking to finish the game is reliable closer Wade Davis. Starting pitching talent could be the difference maker this year as the Rockies hope to put together a winning record and make a push for the postseason. Youth and energy could prove a major factor down the stretch in a long and grueling MLB season. In his second year as manager for the Rockies, Bud Black, is eager to come to the ballpark each day and see what he can do with the current squad.
