The stadium was renamed Qwest Field in 2004 and became CenturyLink Field in 2011. It was the first NFL stadium to install a FieldTurf artificial surface.

Located within a mile of Downtown Seattle, Lumen Field is accessible by multiple freeways and forms of mass transit. The facility hosts concerts, trade shows, consumer shows, and other sporting events. It received its current name in November 2020, when CenturyLink was rebranded to Lumen Technologies. This is a modern venue with great views of the Downtown Seattle skyline has an Event Center (home to the Washington Music Theatre), a parking garage, and a public plaza.

At Lumen Field, Seahawks fans have claimed the Guinness World Record for the loudest crowd roar twice, which has a direct corelation to the team’s home-field advantage with the numerous false starts and delays of game penalties against the visiting franchises that result. In addition to NFL games, several college and high school football games are played at this facility. These games most notably include the 2011 Apple Cup and all Washington Huskies home games in 2012. The first sporting event held was a Seattle Sounders match.

Lumen Field was the site of the MLS Cup in 2009 and 2019, host of the 2010 and 2011 tournament finals for the U.S. Open Cup, the second leg of the 2022 tournament final for the CONCACAF Champions League, and hosted several CONCACAF Gold Cup matches across multiple editions. Lumen Field will host matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
